![]() | We generally use MS Office and PDF forms to record our logs and reports and a database for all our work orders and NOTAMs. I'm hoping to find something that can consolidate some of what we do and also be portable (laptop or pda device). If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Cheers! PS: Yes, I'm obviously new and "Nice to meet you" in advance. |

We use a program called ASOCS. Welcome aboard!

Jeff, my directors are asking me to talk to folks that have used this and other software to see what they use it for and what their experience with it has been like. Would you mind if I did a mini interview with you about ASOCS?

Sure, no problem. I am going to work right now and I'll give you some screen shots of what we log. We log all runway inspections (times and discrepancies), perimeter checks (any discrepancies along fence line), AOA violations, Bird strikes, medical emergencies (slip and falls, feeling sick, etc), etc etc. We have hundreds of different forms in ASOCS to log nearly every type of event and a Misc log for those which we do not. The FAA certification inspector likes these types of logs, especially if your airport is part 139.

That'd be great! Is there anything that ASOCS doesn't do that you wish it did? Right now we use several PDF form templates to do all of our logs and daily reporting and incidents. We also use an Access database to do a variety of other tasks. The record keeping aspect gets a little tedious sometimes, though. Our cert inspection is coming up next month...should be fun haha! |

How did your Cert inspection go? There isn't anything ASOCS doesn't do. It does too much.

Hey, our Cert Inspection went great, a couple tiny things he dinged us on that were already scheduled to be worked on. If our painters had shown up when they were supposed to, it wouldn't have been an issue. We had our triennial Live Drill last month and have been basically in recovery mode for the past couple weeks. Things have been a little crazy. I've been trying to get more info from the folks that put out ASOCS about customization and what exactly it can do for us, but apparently they aren't interested in promoting or selling their software...it's really frustrating especially when my Directors are breathing down my neck for information. Hope everyone is doing well! |
